UK law requires your vehicle be fitted with the correct type and size of tyre for the vehicle type and for the purpose that the vehicle is being driven.
The legal tread depth limit for your tyres is 1.6mm across the central 3/4 of the tread for the entire circumference of the tyre.
It is best to replace your tyres beofre they reach the 1.6mm limit. Many manufacturers recommend replacing tyres at 3mm. This is because your braking distance vastly increases the more worn your tyre becomes. For example on wet roads a tyre at 1.6mm will take an additional 8 meters to stop from 50mph compared to a tyre at 3mm.
Remember you can be fined upto £2500 & given 3 penalty points for EACH tyre under the legal limit. Avoid these hefty penalties by coming in for a free tyre check today.
Also remember that radial & cross ply tyres cannot be mixed across the same axle. It is perfectly fine to mix brands and tread patterns as long as they are of the same construction.
